Love watching those commercials on television that show women with perfectly straight shiny hair? You probably wish that you had the same quality of hair too, but who has that kind of time to take care of your hair!

Even if you can’t have perfectly straight hair, you can always have healthy hair that doesn’t have split ends or break easily. Here are some tips that will help you get and maintain healthy hair:

Wash your scalp not the roots, but not every day!

There is a common belief that the more you wash your hair, the cleaner and clearer it will become. The truth is that you should not wash your hair everyday because the shampoo will start to strip away the natural oils from your hairs leaving it frizzy. Hence, it is better to only wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week.

Make sure that you apply shampoo to your scalp and not the roots. It is your scalp where the dirt and dust accumulates. Also when you rub your scalp the blood circulation of your scalp increases, which stimulates hair growth. Finish your shower with cold water to seal in moisture and help your hair look shiny and healthy.

Before applying conditioner towel dry your hair

We’ve been taught to believe the best time to condition your hair is in the shower right after you’ve finished shampooing your hair. However when your hair is wet, the conditioner will not work properly. If there is excess water on your hair, it means that the conditioner cannot penetrate into the hair shaft to start adding moisture back into your hair. Hence, after you wash your hair, towel dry it and then apply conditioner to get better results.

When applying hair conditioner you must avoid the roots and apply it on the ends. Applying hair conditioner on the roots will make the hair greasy. Try to comb your hair twice daily, once in the morning and once before going to sleep. This will help evenly distribute oils throughout and easily get rid of any tangles or knots.

Make your hair stronger

When your hair is strong it will look healthy too. Hence, ensure that you have enough vitamin B in your diet as it will make your hair and nails strong.  Massaging your scalp regularly will increase the blood circulation there making your hair stronger. Plus an added bonus of the massage is you will be more relaxed throughout the day.  

Protect your hair

It is also necessary to protect your hair. If your hair is left unprotected, then heat and dust can easily damage it! Try to apply some cover on your hair if you are under the sun or in windy conditions. Also make sure that you don’t use hot water directly on the hair.
